Description

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Architecture & Networking: You design, build, and scale our cloud infrastructure. This includes managing core networking components such as VPCs, routing, DNS, and load balancing, while ensuring secure, highly available connectivity across our locations.
  • Core Application Infrastructure: You take ownership of the infrastructure behind our business-critical applications, including deployment, hosting optimization, and performance tuning. Your primary focus will be a complex Java application and a large-scale PHP platform.
  • Monitoring & Observability: You ensure end-to-end visibility across our systems by designing, implementing, and continuously enhancing our monitoring and observability stack (e.g., Grafana). You also establish effective alerting to enable proactive issue detection and resolution.
  • Technology Evaluation & Scalability: With a current focus on AWS, you optimize our platforms for high availability—for example, by integrating Redis for session caching and ensuring reliable WebSocket connectivity. At the same time, you keep our long-term goal of maintaining a cloud-agnostic architecture in mind.
  • Security & Best Practices: You evaluate and implement modern cloud-native solutions to enhance our secrets management and establish industry best practices for infrastructure security across our engineering processes.
  • Process Reliability & CI/CD: You design, build, and maintain highly automated CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, efficient deployments. You also implement automated recovery mechanisms that ensure interrupted processes can resume seamlessly.

What you need to succeed

You have a structured, methodical, and self-driven way of working, backed by several years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure administration, for example as a Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer, or DevOps Engineer.

With your collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills, and approachable personality, you confidently work across teams and stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on infrastructure-related topics. You take a holistic approach to problem-solving while maintaining a strong focus on compliance requirements and the highest standards of data security.

Your (technical) profile

  • Linux Administration: Proven hands-on experience administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux-based systems.
  • Networking Expertise: Strong understanding of modern networking architectures and protocols, including routing, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud networking.
  • PHP & Java Ecosystems: Demonstrated experience operating and optimizing large-scale PHP and Java applications in production, as well as building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. An architectural understanding of the specific requirements of both ecosystems, JVMs and application servers for Java, as well as web servers and PHP-FPM for PHP, is a strong advantage.
  • Cloud & Containers: Solid practical experience with at least one major cloud platform (preferably AWS, alternatively Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure), as well as Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and container technologies such as Docker.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining modern logging, monitoring, and observability platforms (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, the ELK Stack, or comparable tools).
  • AI-Enabled Engineering Workflows: A pragmatic approach to AI-assisted software development and engineering workflows. You understand the opportunities AI offers while maintaining a critical perspective on topics such as IT security, code quality, and governance.
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English.
