SENIOR CNC PROGRAMMER – MULTI-AXIS & MILL-TURN (ESPRIT EDGE PREFERRED)

Location: Camarillo, CA
Duration: 6 months with Temp-to-Hire
Shift: 1st Shift (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Programmer to lead advanced programming support for precision machining operations. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing programs for CNC machines, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective production of parts, tools, and sheet metal components. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, be proficient in multi-axis programming, and have experience using Esprit Edge (preferred).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a recognized CNC Programming trade school program, Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on CNC programming experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in multi-axis CNC machines, including 4- and 5-axis operations and mill-turn centers.
  • Preferred experience with Esprit Edge CAM software and Mazatrol controls.
  • In-depth knowledge of cutting tools, speeds/feeds, material behavior, work holding, and best practices for metal cutting.
  • Demonstrated ability to read complex blueprints and GD&T, develop optimal tool paths, and drive cycle time improvements.
  • Experience in process improvement methodologies such as Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma is a strong plus.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, test, and optimize complex CNC programs for machining centers, including mills, lathes, mill-turn, and multitasking machines (4-axis, 5-axis, live tooling).
  • Utilize Esprit Edge and other CAM software to generate precise G-code and CNC instructions for platforms such as Okuma, HAAS, and Mazatrol (preferred).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications to determine optimal machining strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—engineering, quality, and supply chain—to resolve technical discrepancies and optimize production processes.
  • Analyze part geometries and machining requirements to determine the most efficient sequence of operations, speeds, feeds, and tool paths.
  • Lead program trials and first-article tryouts; perform simulations and debugging to ensure dimensional accuracy and cycle time efficiency.
  • Continuously improve processes through lean principles, standardization of tooling/workholding, and automation of manufacturing routines.
  • Modify existing programs to incorporate engineering changes or improve performance, quality, and repeatability.
  • Document and maintain all programs, tooling setups, and process sheets for future reference and traceability.
  • Provide mentorship and serve as a technical resource for junior programmers and machinists.
