Description This is a part-time position, with an as-needed status that is determined by project schedule and requirement. This position primarily performs Coating Condition Surveys on Department of Defense (DoD) Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL, or "fuels") piping and storage tanks, including inspections before, during, and after coating applications to assess quality. The inspector acts as the coatings expert to ensure protective coatings are applied correctly to prevent corrosion on structures like pipelines and fuel tanks. This position utilizes destructive and non-destructive inspection equipment and testing methods to analyze results, identify concerns, and provide written findings, including safety concerns and mitigation recommendations. Requirements U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain military base access through background checks. Current passport and valid driver’s license required. Minimum ten (10) years of experience working with coatings. Minimum five (5) years field experience with DoD POL facilities. AMPP SSPC Certified Protective Coating Specialist. SSPC Certified Master Coating Inspector. Preferred OSHA 30 certified Willingness to travel internationally for extended periods on short notice. Other Skills/Abilities Experience with DoD POL Coating Specifications for piping and storage tanks. Extensive understanding of corrosion, coating types, application methods, and industry standards. Proficient with coating inspection equipment. Strong field presence with a proactive, problem-solving mindset. Confident communicator and trainer in safety protocols. Detail-oriented, organized, and skilled in documentation and reporting. Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. Physical Requirements Abilities Work in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions. Travel independently and remain on location for extended project durations. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs routinely; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs may be required. Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders or scaffolding on uneven terrain. Hear and communicate clearly in dynamic field environments. Enter confined spaces and elevated work zones when required. Wear personal protective equipment as applicable, based on the expected site hazards.
