Description
The Senior Collection Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the company’s receivables, ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments from clients, and maintaining strong relationships with key customers. The role involves coordinating with project, billing, and finance teams to resolve payment issues, reduce outstanding balances, and improve cash flow in line with company policies and contractual terms. Collections & Receivables Management Monitor and manage accounts receivable balances for all assigned clients and projects. Ensure timely follow-up on outstanding invoices in accordance with contract terms. Prepare and execute collection plans for overdue accounts. Escalate long-outstanding or disputed accounts to management with recommendations. Client Follow-up Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal project teams to resolve billing and payment issues. Maintain professional relationships with key clients to support timely payments. Coordinate with contracts and project departments regarding variations, certifications, and approvals affecting payments. Reporting & Documentation Prepare regular aging reports, collection status reports, and cash flow forecasts. Maintain accurate records of communications, agreements, and payment commitments. Assist in audits by providing supporting documentation for receivables. Compliance & Risk Control Ensure collections are in line with contract terms, company policies, and legal requirements. Identify potential credit risks and recommend preventive actions. Support management in setting credit limits and payment terms for clients. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 5–8 years of experience in corporate collections, preferably in a contracting/construction company. Strong understanding of construction contracts, progress billing, retention, and certifications. Experience dealing with corporate clients, consultants, and government entities is an advantage.
