REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience as a Combat Designer in the game industry.
  • Strong understanding of combat mechanics, player control, AI behavior, and balancing.
  • Familiarity with animation principles and timing in combat interactions.
  • Experience using Unreal Engine or similar game engines.
  • A passion for crafting engaging and replayable combat systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE

As a Senior Combat Designer, you will be responsible for designing and fine-tuning the combat systems that drive progression and balancing in our AAA survival city-builder RPG. Your expertise in game mathematics, systemic design will ensure a fair, engaging, and rewarding experience for players.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and balance melee, ranged, and AI-driven enemy combat mechanics.
  • Develop player combat abilities, including attack patterns, stamina systems, weapon handling, and enemy feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with AI programmers to refine enemy behavior and difficulty scaling.
  • Work closely animation and VFX teams to create visceral combat feedback, animation, hitboxes and damage models.
  • Define combat encounter pacing, challenge progression, and player skill mastery.
  • Conduct regular playtests and gather feedback to refine combat mechanics.
  • Maintain clear and detailed documentation of combat mechanics and gameplay features.
