Job Summary Identifies, monitors, and describes credit risk in a commercial banking environment and serves as a subject matter expert in financial analysis and loan underwriting. Supports the Credit Administration and Commercial Lending functions by evaluating high-risk or high-dollar relationships, ensuring the Bank's credit quality, and providing informal guidance to junior analysts and interns. Essential Job Functions Prepares detailed and accurate credit memoranda for complex borrower relationships and high-visibility transactions across diverse industries. Analyzes intricate financial statements and tax returns, including consolidations, multi-entity structures, and borrower/guarantor global cash flows. Evaluates qualitative and quantitative risks, assesses management and industry factors, and proposes structure modifications and mitigation strategies. Communicates directly with Commercial Lenders and Relationship Managers to clarify deal terms and credit structuring, offering recommendations independently. Collaborates with Commercial Lenders, Portfolio Managers, and Credit Officers to structure new credit facilities, renewals, and modifications that align with the Bank’s risk appetite and credit policy. Adheres to Bank credit policies and regulatory guidelines while ensuring credit presentations and underwriting are complete, accurate, and compliant. Mentors junior analysts and interns by answering questions, reviewing analysis, and modeling best practices in credit documentation. Coordinates with Credit Officers, Loan Operations, and Portfolio Management on due diligence, policy exceptions, and resolution of underwriting questions. Contributes timely and independent analysis with minimal need for review or revision to support high-quality credit decision-making. Represents Credit Administration in borrower meetings or collateral inspections when requested and participates in special projects as needed. Actively stays current on all Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements by regularly attending team meetings, completing mandatory training on schedule, and applying knowledge to ensure accuracy and compliance in daily operations. Ensures adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and bank policies by preventing violations, minimizing risks, and safeguarding the Bank’s interests. Verifies transactions and account balances, ensuring compliance with bank policies and state and federal regulations and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as applicable to the role. Performs additional duties, as directed by management. Complies with all related consumer regulatory requirements. Requirements Qualifications, Experience, and Education High School with Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field preferred. Minimum three years of experience in commercial credit analysis or underwriting in a banking environment. Strong knowledge of finance and accounting concepts. Strong knowledge of cash flow analysis, loan policy, financial covenants, and regulatory compliance. Proficient in spreadsheets, credit spreading software, and commercial loan systems. Proven ability to underwrite complex credit requests independently, including real estate, commercial and industrial (C&I), and multi-entity borrower structures. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and communicate complex ideas to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
