ABOUT YOU/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in a relevant risk acceptance and rating environment is essential
  • CIP Qualification essential, with MDI or ACII desirable
  • Have a detailed understanding of underwriting, rating and acceptance criteria.
  • Capable of making quality risk assessment decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and numerical reasoning skills.
  • Experience of working in teams and successful record of project delivery.
    This role is an allocated Controlled Function under Fitness & Probity Regime, which means the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced level of background screening requirements. You can find more information on axa.ie/careers.

Responsibilities
  • Documenting of risk acceptance criteria and risk appetite for each class of business and continuous review of same.
  • Evaluating competitors risk acceptance criteria through internet reviews, mystery shopping and working closely with BDMs to obtain Broker information.
  • Highlight areas of concern and make recommendations for change based on completed reviews.
  • Completing product benchmarking on individual classes.
  • Responsibility for smaller nonmaterial classes of business/product/Scheme offerings.
  • Identifying new product and/or process opportunities to improve products and strengthen Underwriting rules to reduce claims and/or improve overall customer experience.
  • Ad hoc analysis of portfolios to identify areas of concern and development of action plans.
  • Maintenance of Underwriting licence system for all staff.
  • Maintenance and refinement of underwriting rulebooks for relevant classes.
  • Develop and deliver Underwriting training programmes to sales and Underwriting staff on product features and acceptance rules, rating, and risk appetite.
  • Work with Trading Underwriting and Claims teams to ensure effective implementation of Underwriting standards.
  • Act as business lead or underwriting subject matter representative on cross functional projects.
  • Act as a point of referral for complex technical queries from staff in sales, claims, AXA Legal Services, broker partners, digital, marketing and other underwriting staff.
  • Produce reports with clear findings and recommendations as requested.
  • Third party provider engagement notably on exposure management and support systems
  • Performance analysis and reporting of the Commercial products using available analytical and reporting systems
