Job Purpose Senior Commissioning Engineer is a senior role within the commissioning project team, the person undertaking this role is a technical authority in chosen discipline and a leader within the team. They are self-motivated, support the project manager with delivery of project scope and provide training and coaching to the team. Qualification / Experience ● MEP / Building Services Engineering Degree ● BSc Mechanical Engineering ● BSc Electrical Engineering ● BSc Building Services Engineering ● MEP / Building Services Engineering College Diploma ● HNC, HND or equivalent ● MEP / Building Services Engineering College Certificate ● ONC, OND or equivalent ● MEP Trade Time Served + City & Guilds Certificate ● Minimum 8 years of job-related experience + Engineering Degree ● Minimum 10 years of job-related experience + College Diploma ● Minimum 12 years of job-related experience + College or Trade Certificate ● Chartered Engineer, desirable but not essential ● Incorporated Engineer, desirable but not essential ● CSA Grade 5 qualified, desirable but not essential ● Certified Commissioning Authority with BCA, ACG or NEBB, desirable but not essential General Expectancy ● Extensive experience and high-level competencies in specialised areas. ● Contributes valuable insights to projects. Responsibilities ● Independently conduct site inspections in selected discipline ● Review design information, tolerances and agreed methods of working ● Assess whether test procedures and recorded results demonstrate compliance with project specifications and industry codes of practice ● Assist with reviewing project documentation for compliance with project specifications and industry codes of practice ● Report issues found to senior team members in a clear, accurate and concise manner ● Liaise with contractors commissioning team in a professional manner ● Carry out site observations with respect to quality of installation ● Produce documentation to a high standard, including Site Observation Reports ● Monitor installation, submittals and use of engineering tools adhering to project and commissioning guideline ● Participate in meetings and workshops when required ● Technical authority and leader within the project team and division ● Support, mentor, and train colleagues ● Track completion of tasks, prepare lookaheads and trackers for project milestones ● Keep daily diary of events and activities under your control, including systems inspected, documents reviewed, and any decision made by authorities on site ● Assist with commission ability design reviews when requested and produce high-quality detail-orientated documentation with recommendations and considerations Competencies ● Leadership / Management skills Leadership involves effective delegation, strategic planning, and fostering collaboration across teams. Independently manage complex projects and resolve complex project issues. They lead efforts to streamline cross-functional processes and drive efficiency across the organisation. ● Leadership / Team Management Experience Ability to independently project manage delivery and guide junior team members within the project team or mentoring junior team members / graduates. Provide guidance and leadership to more junior team members. ● Commercial Acumen / Business Development Proficiency in creating and managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost control. Managing relationships with project vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective procurement. Client oriented and contributes to commercial success of the division. ● Problem Solving / Decision Making Generate viable options for addressing problems. Consider the long-term implications of each option. ● Employee Focus / Process Compliance Skilled in managing employee relations and fostering a positive work environment.
