Description The Senior Commodity Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the strategic sourcing, cost optimization, and supply continuity of key commodities that support Workhorse’s vehicle production and technology initiatives. This role combines deep knowledge of supply markets with strong analytical, negotiation, and relationship management skills. Job Duties/Job Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage commodity strategies for assigned categories (e.g., electrical, mechanical, or raw material components). Conduct market analysis to identify cost drivers, supplier trends, and new sourcing opportunities. Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive innovation, improve performance, and ensure alignment with Workhorse’s business objectives. Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Finance to support new product development (NPD) and sourcing decisions. Manage supplier performance using key metrics such as on-time delivery, quality, cost reduction, and responsiveness. Drive cost reduction initiatives while ensuring long-term supply stability and risk mitigation. Support the development and implementation of supply risk management strategies, including dual sourcing and contingency planning. Participate in cross-functional sourcing reviews, supplier business reviews, and executive-level updates. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or supply chain management within the automotive, electric vehicle, or manufacturing industries. Proven track record of negotiating supplier agreements and achieving measurable cost savings. Strong knowledge of commodity markets, supply chain economics, and cost drivers. Excellent analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills — with the ability to develop and present data-driven recommendations. Proficiency in ERP and procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar). Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable influencing at all levels of the organization. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
