Job Description
An excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Communications Advisor (Internal and Digital) to join the Communications and Marketing department at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.
About the Position
As a member of WEHI’s Communications and Marketing team, the Senior Communications Advisor (Internal and Digital) supports WEHI’s strategic communications objectives through the development and implementation of internal communications plans to foster employee engagement and support key employee programs. The position also plays a role in supporting impactful digital communications activity.
This role will contribute to the development and promotion of high-quality communications content for various channels including a SharePoint intranet, digital newsletters, executive communications, website, social media and event materials.
This position is available for 6-months on a full-time basis.
Selection Criteria

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience in communications, public relations, media or journalism.
  • Extensive experience developing and implementing high quality internal communications activities in a complex multidisciplinary organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce engaging written content across diverse channels (website, social media, digital newsletters, articles, letters, speeches) to meet target audience needs.
  • Ability to translate complex language and ideas into accessible and engaging content.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute communications plans.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects or teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure in a team environment to meet deadlines.
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience using content management systems to create and edit website or intranet content.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience using SharePoint as an intranet content management system.
  • Experience in coordinating and editing content for digital publications.

Terms of Appointment
This position is a 6-month full-time contract role. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 7 ($101,911 - $110,320 per annum). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
