This mandate is performed through policy, operational, and enforcement activities. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

The Communications, International and Stakeholder Affairs (CISA) division plays an integral role in maintaining the OSC’s reputation as an effective and responsive securities regulator. CISA provides strategic communications advice to ensure the timely and effective communication of OSC priorities, policies, and actions across all corporate channels. These include stakeholder engagement, executive remarks, corporate reporting materials, internal communications, staff internet, media relations, issues management, OSC websites, and enterprise social media.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, the Senior Communications Advisor ensures consistent, timely and effective communication by the OSC across multiple corporate channels.
This includes leading strategic content development across web, social media, newsletters, and video, as well as shaping key narratives for flagship events that showcase OSC’s thought leadership (e.g., OSC Dialogue, policy roundtables).
A central accountability of this role is to lead a multi-channel video program, working closely with CISA colleagues and internal subject matter experts to produce compelling visual content that supports OSC priorities and enhances stakeholder engagement. The Senior Communications Advisor also curates and adapts regulatory content for broad stakeholder audiences, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and alignment with OSC’s strategic plan.
This role also plays a critical role in amplifying and distributing executive messaging developed by the editorial team across platforms. The Senior Communications Advisor ensures the organization meets its accessibility and French language obligations through ongoing process improvements and inclusive communications practices.

What You Will Do

Content Strategy and Development

  • Lead strategic content development across all OSC channels (web, social, newsletters, video).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure content aligns with OSC priorities and stakeholder interests.
  • Curate and adapt regulatory content for broad stakeholder audiences, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and consistency across platforms.
  • Amplify executive messaging through channel specific strategies.
  • Oversee the production and publication of a monthly stakeholder newsletter that engages OSC subscribers, advisory committees and broadens reach.

Social Media and Multi-Channel Engagement

  • Manage the OSC’s corporate social media presence, including LinkedIn, X, and emerging platforms.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand two-way dialogue with stakeholders through interactive formats and timely content.
  • In collaborating with CISA colleagues, oversee the planning and delivery of a multi-channel video program, including concept development, scripting coordination, and production oversight.
  • Monitor analytics and audience insights to refine content strategy and optimize performance across digital channels.
  • Explore new platforms and channels to increase reach, relevance, and engagement.

Marquee Events and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as project lead for OSC Dialogue, and policy roundtables overseeing content strategy and speaker recruitment.
  • Develop event themes and formats that highlight OSC thought leadership and foster meaningful stakeholder engagement identifying and securing thought-provoking speakers, designing the agenda, and overseeing execution.
  • Develop outreach programs that respond to evolving stakeholder needs and support OSC strategic priorities.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusion across all engagement activities, including compliance with French language and accessibility obligations.
  • Provide input into day-to-day planning, reporting, procurement, vendor management, and budgets.

Qualifications for Success

  • Exceptional strategic writing and editorial skills with proven ability to translate complex regulatory and financial concepts into clear, compelling content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive communications experience, including corporate messaging, multi-channel content strategy, social/digital media, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven track record in leading high-profile initiatives, including project management of flagship events from concept through execution (agenda design, speaker recruitment, stakeholder engagement).
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets environment, regulation, policy, and investment products/services; completion of the Canadian Securities Course or CFP designation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate social media management, particularly LinkedIn, X, BlueSky and other emerging channels, with the ability to use analytics to drive engagement and reach.
  • Senior level interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and build trusted relationships
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with proven ability to articulate ideas clearly, foster consensus, and provide strategic advice at a senior level
  • Strong judgment, decision making and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities, perform under pressure, and work with minimal direction.
  • A relevant university degree.
  • Assets: Experience with video development and editing; French language skills
