Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Communications Infrastructure Engineer to join our Transit Rail Systems Engineering team in our Los Angeles, CA office.
We are seeking a results-driven engineering professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Communications systems and networks are used by operations departments to dispatch fleets, support critical safety systems, enable passenger information systems, and ticketing. Systems in dedicated rights-of-way also support administrative networks and functions. Work often takes place on an operating railroad or transit system in a so-called “brownfield” environment where planning, execution and field validation are all mission critical activities the successful candidate will participate in. Our engineers are key people in our clients’ organizations, bringing new services and systems on-line.

THE FOLLOWING SKILLS/EXPERIENCE ARE A PLUS:

Candidates with certifications, knowledge and experience with Cisco products/technologies are preferred. BICSI RCDD certification, PE or EIT licensure are desirable, but not required. Experience in the North American transit/transportation industry is an advantage.

Responsibilities
  • A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the application of current communication infrastructure and technologies
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and BICSI standards and regulations
  • Experience in design of detailed fiber-based communications infrastructure plans including outside plant, switches, and control and data centers
