SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Procom is searching for a Senior Communications Specialist for a 14 month contract. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Edmonton office.

SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Communications Specialist will support the Business Readiness workstream Program, which is a high-impact technology transformation initiative to replace the legacy tariff billing system. The role involves driving clear, consistent, and engaging communications across multiple levels of the organization to ensure stakeholders are informed, aligned, and confident throughout the transformation.

SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in a communications role, ideally within a project, transformation, or change environment.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptionally organized with strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft 365 and collaboration platforms.
  • Experience developing and maintaining communication logs.

SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Skill with graphic and/or video programs (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Vyond or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with change management principles; Prosci or other recognized change management certification an asset.
  • Analytical mindset with experience tracking sentiment and engagement.
  • Ability to build trust and strong working relationships.
  • A flexible mindset and a “let’s get it done” attitude.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and execute the Program Communications Plan.
  • Develop and execute internal communication strategies that support business readiness and user adoption for a phased implementation.
  • Develop external stakeholder communications for the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), market participants (retailers), and customer groups.
  • Translate change impacts into targeted, actionable messaging for leaders, users, and other stakeholder groups.
  • Craft high-quality communication materials, including stakeholder updates and user-facing content.
  • Collaborate with the program business readiness workstream to manage communications and logistics for training sprints and related readiness events.
  • Track communication effectiveness, user sentiment, and engagement—adjusting messages and tactics based on feedback and results.
