Job Description
AECOM has an immediate opportunity available for a Senior Concrete Materials Expert for employment in Panama City, Panama.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review and Approval of the Contractor’s proposed materials and methods as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
  • Preparation of Material Engineer’s Daily Diary.
  • General oversight of the Contractor’s daily activities including works assignments, on-site performance and guidance on the supervision of the Contractor’s operations.
  • Periodically supervise sampling and testing and carry out random checks of material delivered to the project for conformance with the Approved source or supplier. Maintain neat accurate records.
  • Assist the GECs on technical issues.
  • Perform statistical analysis on the test results and report to the Quality specialist.
  • Periodically witness material sampling and testing and report to the Quality Manager.
  • Coordinate with the GECs to be aware of inspection and testing proposals and discuss any areas of concern.
  • Provide QA/QC technical advice and guidance to ensure that critical or urgent situations are quickly addressed.
  • Monitor Planned, coordinated and managed material procurement.
  • Mentor Staff
  • Supervise work in progress at site, including quality control inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field + 8 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Relevant experience with Dam projects including inspection, rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of material properties, behavior, and failure analysis
  • Experience in performing inspection, design, and/or engineering activities in dams or water retaining structures

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years or more experience including relevant experience with Dam projects including inspection, rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, staff supervision, strong negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities
  • Excellent written communications and presentation abilities in internal project settings with the project team, external project stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish
