POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Senior Construction Accountant to join our team. This position is key to ensuring the financial accuracy and operational support of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of construction accounting experience, a strong understanding of job costing, and a proactive, team-oriented approach.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience in the construction industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred but not required)
  • Strong knowledge of construction job costing and general ledger functions
  • Experience with fixed assets and depreciation tracking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level)
  • Familiarity with accounting software platforms (other than QuickBooks)
  • Solid understanding of W-9 and 1099 requirements
  • Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance
  • Demonstrated experience with credit card reconciliations

Responsibilities
  • Provide support and backup for Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) processes
  • Review A/P batches and A/R billings for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare and process multi-state sales tax returns (accrual basis)
  • Reconcile company credit card accounts, including Chase credit card statements
  • Maintain notes payable bank records and amortization schedules
  • Set up new vendors and maintain vendor ACH information
  • Review and process payment registers
  • Print and mail checks, ensuring timely disbursement
  • Assist in preparing general ledger working papers and reconciliations
  • Provide backup support for subcontractor and purchase order (PO) processing, including lien waivers
  • Participate in special accounting projects and tasks assigned by the Controller
