SENIOR CONSTRUCTION LAWYER – CARDIFF

We are seeking a Senior Construction Lawyer to join our thriving team in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced construction lawyer to work with a dynamic and successful commercial property practice, with a strong focus on development projects. You will be working closely with wider Real Estate and Construction team providing expert legal advice in a fast-paced, commercially-driven environment. Ideally, we are looking for candidates with experience working with public sector clients.

ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for a Senior Construction Lawyer with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum PQE of 5 years in construction law, ideally with experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters.
  • Strong technical expertise in construction law, with the ability to navigate complex legal issues within the commercial property and development sectors.
  • Experience working with public sector clients on construction projects and public procurement matters.
  • Experience working with a successful commercial property practice, particularly in development work.
  • Demonstrated ability to sustain long-term client relationships and act as a trusted advisor.
  • Proven track record of managing billing targets and delivering results.
  • Commitment to maintaining high professional standards and ensuring client service excellence.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Senior Construction Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice across a wide range of construction matters, including construction contracts, public procurement, dispute resolution, and more. You will work on complex, high-profile development projects, acting as a trusted advisor to clients including funders, developers, occupiers, and other key stakeholders in the construction sector.
This is a great opportunity for a Construction Lawyer to take the lead on all Construction work in Wales and grow their career with the backing of a supportive top-tier firm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Legal Advice: Provide expert guidance on all construction-related matters, from construction contracts to dispute resolution and public procurement.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with our Real Estate partners on development projects, offering strategic insights and legal support.
  • Client Relationships: Build and sustain strong, commercially valuable relationships with clients, offering trusted and practical advice.
  • Business Development: Act as an ambassador for the Firm, participating in public speaking engagements, publishing articles, and promoting the Firm’s expertise.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Act as a role model within the team, ensuring that high standards of service and professionalism are consistently met. Support junior lawyers and help manage the team’s overall success.
  • Billing and Targets: Take responsibility for your own billing targets while supporting the wider team in achieving annual billing goals.
