Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE:

Chubb is seeking an experienced Engineer to provide professional engineering advice to our Construction underwriting team in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, with the aim of improving underwriting profitability and assisting in portfolio development and new business opportunities. This role involves collaboration with underwriters as well as interaction with clients and brokers.
The position will cover the APAC region and will be based in Australia reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager for APAC.
The primary responsibility is to provide timely, succinct and technically advanced engineering advice to underwriters with regard to technical risks of construction of Industrial Facilities in compliance with CHUBB processes and best practices.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop DeskTop Reviews for large and complex industrial construction projects worldwide, ensuring adherence to CHUBB Technical Lines Engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with regional engineers to conduct peer reviews.
  • Conduct on-site visits to industrial construction projects to monitor progress, gather pertinent risk information, and offer recommendations to insured parties for mitigating risk exposure. Review site visit reports from regional engineers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Review site visit reports from other regional engineers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Design and implement tools that leverage knowledge, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness to provide optimal solutions for managing and reducing financial risks associated with CHUBB’s portfolio.
  • Evaluate significant losses in construction projects of industrial facilities within CHUBB’s portfolio in APAC. Ensure that relevant data is accurately uploaded to the loss database for further analysis.
  • Provide support and training for other risk engineers and senior underwriters to enhance their expertise and effectiveness in risk assessment.
  • Continuously enhance engineering knowledge and resources within areas of expertise to stay current with industry practices and standards.
  • Develop and improve communication effectiveness and manage relationships with clients, brokers, and the insurance market, to maintain CHUBB’s credibility as a leading professional and ethical insurer.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team and streamline workflow management processes.
  • Broaden your knowledge base beyond core competencies to support underwriting functions through ongoing education and training, enhancing overall team performance.
