About the position
Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is the largest hospital in Norway, with over 23 000 employees. It serves as a local hospital for a part of the population in Oslo, has a regional function for 3.1 million persons living in the area covered by the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. The Hospital serves several national functions and is responsible for a large proportion of medical research and health personnel education in Norway.
The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway’s largest research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7 500 employees. The Faculty of Medicine works for progressive education, research, and dissemination to the best interests of patients and society. It is organized into three institutes, one of which is the Institute of Clinical Medicine, and has 1 500 employees and about 2 000 students.
A permanent position as Senior Consultant (100 % position) is available at the Unit of Rheumatology. This unit is part of the Department of Rheumatology, Dermatology and Infectious Diseases within the Division of Specialized Medicine and Surgery, Oslo University Hospital.
The position is affiliated with a part time position (20 %) as Professor II (SKO 1013) or Associate Professor II (SKO 1011) in Medicine (Rheumatology) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO).
It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION AND RELEVANT PERSONAL

  • The applicant must possess a Norwegian specialist accreditation in rheumatology.
  • The applicant should have clinical expertise on adult-onset systemic rheumatic diseases.
  • The applicant must have relevant research experience and a strong motivation to contribute to ongoing and future research activities related to the relevant patient populations.
  • Documented language skills in Norwegian or a compatible Scandinavian language is required. Applicants must be able to teach and communicate with patients in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to routine clinical activities in the Adult consultant team and participate in all aspects of treatment and follow-up of adult patients with rheumatic diseases.
  • Contribute to improve the standard of care for adult-onset systemic rheumatic diseases with the ambition to position the Unit at a high international level in clinical management of this heterogeneous and difficult-to-treat patient group.
  • Contribute to better integration of clinical activities and research.
  • Opportunity to participate in the Unit’s on call system for consultants.
  • Contribute to continuing medical education by taking on teaching tasks at the Unit, at the Hospital and, when indicated, at relevant external meetings.
  • Contribute to educational activities organized by the Unit for the benefit of patients, relatives, and the public.
