Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Join the UK’s market leading Financial Advisory Restructuring Tax team and make a real difference on a range of high profile insolvency appointments.
A key focus for our Financial Advisory Restructuring Tax team is to manage the corporation tax affairs of companies when Teneo take an insolvency appointment, essentially acting as the in-house tax team for that business. The team both manage the tax compliance and reporting obligations and provide advice to the insolvency practitioners on the direct tax consequences of their intended realisation strategy, including advising on business and asset sales.
The variety of work really stands out, as does the friendly and supportive nature of the team. The team works across a variety of sectors and on businesses with a range of complex and interesting tax profiles. We are a growing team and are looking for talented corporation tax specialists at Senior Consultant level to join us.
The role is technically interesting and personally rewarding, with a unique opportunity to effectively work as part of an in-house tax team across a wide range of businesses and sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your key areas of focus will include:

  • Wherever Teneo take an insolvency appointment:

    • Preparing tax returns to a high standard for submission to HMRC. This can include preparing outstanding tax returns for accounting periods ending before appointment from the company’s books and records and liaising with HMRC on open compliance checks;
  • Undertaking primary research on technical issues and preparing tax analyses to support positions adopted in the tax returns. Sometimes this will involve working with external advisors and reviewing advice received to ensure that it is appropriate and aligned with business’s facts and circumstances; and
  • Providing advice to insolvency practitioners on the direct tax consequences of their intended actions including asset and business sales. Sometimes this will involve working with an incumbent finance function and other times not.
  • Working with our Financial Advisory colleagues, in particular the Insolvency Delivery Team, to understand the progression of the insolvency case and to help develop timetables to ensure that the tax filing obligations are met ahead of any intended case closure; and
  • Contributing to the technical and personal development training of the broader team.

To qualify for the role you will have:

  • AAT/ATT (or equivalent) or relevant experience; and
  • Strong UK Corporation Tax experience including preparing computations and returns and liaising with clients and/or finance functions
