Job Description

We are now seeking a Senior Consultant with Intelligent Transport Systems experience , to be based in any of offices in Ireland. They should be ready to take the next step in their career taking on responsibility for delivery and co-ordination of projects and design packages on new innovative technology projects. The role offers opportunity for significant progression where the right candidate will grow into a design lead and project manager role.
Irelands’ strong year on year economic growth continues, driving growth in population, workforce and travel. This, along with the need to decarbonise transport, has led to a raft of transport investment as well as policies to embed technology to optimise existing and future infrastructure.
Ireland is a key growth market for AECOM. We are already well established, employing more than 700 people in Ireland across offices in Dublin, Belfast, Cork and Galway. Our clients include the National Transport Authority, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Irish Rail, Translink and Dublin Airport.

Our Irish Technology team works collaboratively with our technology teams in UK, Middle East, North America, Spain and Australasian teams. Current projects include:

  • Design and delivery of the enhancing Motorway Operation Services (eMOS ) programme including variable speed limits on the M50, on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), to enhance the safety of road users, emergency responders and vulnerable road workers
  • Delivering Ireland’s Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) on behalf of TII including representation of Ireland at EU level
  • Supporting TII in the development and roll out of a new automatic safety camera to improve road safety across the network
  • Providing technology inputs into the development of a new sustainable residential development at Cherrywood, Co Dublin
  • Supporting the delivery of the BusConnects schemes in Dublin and Cork
  • Leading projects for the delivery of ITS support services for Department of Infrastructure, Northern Ireland
  • Business case systems analysis services for the National Transport Authority (NTA) for technology projects including smart ticketing, real time information systems, websites and apps development and system integration
  • Data protection compliance framework and implementation for NTA.

READY TO PUSH THE LIMITS OF WHAT’S POSSIBLE?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Transport technology design experience across a range of technology applications (such as C-ITS, VMS, CCTV, etc.) and relevant TII and EU Standards or similar transferable international experience
  • Experience of supporting delivery of innovative technology projects through pilots or similar R&D approaches
  • Preferably, experience of design and delivery of technology projects in Ireland

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Essential: Recognised University degree (Level 8) or equivalent in engineering, technology or another relevant discipline
  • Desirable: specialist qualifications and/or memberships of relevant institutions.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team developing a range of local, national, and international schemes or similar major technology related projects
  • Take lead role in project delivery and manage dynamic teams delivering high quality transport technology projects
  • Build relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders
  • Adopt a flexible approach and be able to work away from their base office for short durations to suit project needs
  • Participate in industry groups to develop key industry relationships, stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies, promote technical practices, innovation, sharing, and knowledge management
  • Represent Ireland in ITS forums at EU level, or support s senior representative.
  • Understand and work with the interface with other disciplines such as structures, traffic signals, street lighting and environmental compliance.
