We are currently seeking a Senior Safety Critical Software Assurance Engineer to join our Digital Systems Assurance group. ROLE DESCRIPTION As a Senior Consultant, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering and shaping software assurance strategies for safety-critical systems. You’ll lead multi-disciplinary teams, engage directly with clients, and contribute to business growth through thought leadership and opportunity development. You’ll work across exciting domains including Space, Hypersonics, Submarines, and Aviation, providing technical leadership and governance in software assurance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a Senior Safety Critical Software Assurance Engineer, you will: Manage and deliver safety-critical software assurance projects across multiple domains, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction. Provide SME advice on standards such as IEC 61508, ARP 4754/4761, DO-178, DO-254, DO-326, Def-Stan 00-055/056. Produce, verify, and approve software safety artefacts across the V-lifecycle, including verification and validation. Mentor and develop junior engineers, enhancing technical growth and capability within the team. Develop and implement assurance strategies aligned with certification requirements and industry standards. Engage with clients to understand needs, shape solutions, and build trusted relationships. Support strategic planning, campaign development, and opportunity shaping to grow the group’s impact. Direct bid activities, including scoping, costing, and risk management, to secure new work and expand our portfolio. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Safety, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience. Proven experience in software assurance or development for safety-related systems. Thorough understanding of engineering lifecycles and assurance standards. Ability to lead technical teams and deliver complex projects with high levels of autonomy. Experience translating client requirements into robust, certifiable solutions. DESIREABLE EXPERIENCE Chartered Engineer (CEng/IEng) status or a clear path toward accreditation. Experience applying systems engineering standards and the V-lifecycle. Consultancy skills — including stakeholder engagement, business development, and strategic thinking. Experience of Cyber-Security or Secure by Design activities. Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
