The Protective Security, Strategy & Planning Team coordinates and supports Te Tāhū o te Ture to promote a positive security culture. We are looking to embed a new Third-Party Assurance Framework and we are seeking a strategic experienced Senior Consultant – Supply Chain Risk to help lead this important work.
Reporting to the Manager Protective Security, Strategy and Planning, you will play a key role in strengthening our third party and supplier assurance approach, ensuring alignment with protective security requirements, industry best practices and Ministry’s business and service delivery processes.
You’ll be a recognised risk leader, able to provide expert advice, coaching and support across the Ministry to build capability and uplift risk maturity. This is your chance to influence organisational resilience and deliver real value through proactive and collaborative engagement.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who has Advisory or Consultancy experience from a large and complex organisation. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • proven ability to translate strategy, policy and planning into operational reality
  • strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • extensive experience providing advice and solutions to mitigate risk
  • ability to build and sustain positive stakeholder relationships and effective networks
  • experience coaching and mentoring others, with a focus on fit for purpose, service orientated delivery.

Ideally you will also have:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience (2–5 years), with a commitment to continued development
  • a sound understanding of constitutional principles and legal frameworks underpinning the New Zealand justice system and wider public service
  • experience in protective security strategy, planning, or operations within a government department or a private security consultancy.
