SENIOR CONTRACT MANAGER

    Role Overview:
    An exciting opportunity to work with employees across the Mass General Brigham system to execute high-risk contracts with a variety of vendors in support of our mission to deliver patient care, teaching, research, and commitment to the community. Reporting directly to the Corporate Manager of Clinical Strategic Sourcing in Supply Chain Management, the Senior Contract Manager will manage a large portfolio of contracts that range in size, scope, value, and complexity. The Senior Contract Manager will focus on delivering high-value commercial and business terms in each contract that align with organizational objectives and identify and manage organizational risk by negotiating favorable contractual terms. The Senior Contract Manager will assist with determining and developing goals and objectives for the services provided by Supply Chain Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years experience in a contracting role with a focus on contracting in the related service line
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or a related field or commensurate experience
  • Strong understanding of commercial contractual language in a healthcare setting, including PHI, PI, data use, intellectual property rights, liability, indemnification, copyright issues, and compliance
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing a high volume of work effectively
  • Experience negotiating with vendors in the related service line
  • Experience working with distributors and third-party suppliers

  • Ability to provide Supply Chain subject matter expertise related to the med-surg service line

  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to identify when inter-departmental expertise is required and work closely with those departments to ensure successful outcomes
  • Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to spearhead RFP, RFA, and RFIs end-to-end
  • Expertise in contract negotiations, cost savings, vendor management, and customer service
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects with shifting deadlines
  • Must have strong digital literacy and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office, & Workday
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exemplify creative problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Negotiate and manage enterprise-wide agreements with vendors, ensuring timely completion, accurate terms, and market-competitive rates
  • Respond to all questions related to the service line in a prompt & professional manner and in accordance with departmental service level expectations.
  • Build strategies to reach contract and savings targets in line with organizational expense management objectives
  • Deliver savings, risk mitigation, and operational efficiencies as a result of successful contract negotiations with vendors
  • Participate in RFP evaluation, market analyses, contract negotiation, and contract execution
  • Ensure the organization’s internal contract documents are accurate and well-maintained
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with business owners
  • Build, prepare, review, redline, and sign all commercial contracts related to the service line
  • Find opportunities to improve business processes and/or savings opportunities and devise plans to implement these changes
  • Seek opportunities to consolidate vendors, lower costs, and improve operational efficiency
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technology developments and industry standard methodologies consistent with the service line
  • Participate on procurement-related committees and special projects deemed essential to the organization

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No direct reports; may indirectly provide leadership and guidance to less seasoned and new staff
