Job Introduction
An opportunity is available for an 18-month fixed term contract at the Control Centre in Castle Donington for a Senior Control Engineer whose role will be to train, coach, and supervise Trainee Control Engineers and Control Engineers in their journey of progression, seeking to gain operational authorisations and competency from 11 –132kV.
Having been a National Grid Distribution Control Engineer within the last two years, you will have a passion for wanting to share your knowledge and experience with people who are at the earlier stages of their careers as a Control Engineer, where safety will be your number one priority. You will help shape the success of the individuals that you coach and helping them towards success
Main Responsibilities
In providing supervision and training, you will undertake the following activities and supervise others with an aim to instil competency in the following tasks:
The Ideal Candidate
You will have held the authorisation of a Control Engineer up to and including 132kV in the last two years, working with an NGED authorisation and be a competent user of the ADMS system.
This role is about providing coaching and training to colleagues in their learning journey so no formal training qualification is required. However, you should be fully conversant with National Grid’s values.

To meet national security vetting requirements you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years for Security Clearance (SC) prior to the date of application.
