As a Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer within the Functional Requirements team, you will lead on the development of the C&I functional specifications for systems. Your work will capture and define the plant’s control functions, ensuring they are structured, and translated into implementable system requirements. The role includes collaborating closely with C&I architects, system owners, and plant capability teams, supporting technical decision-making and ensuring cross-disciplinary alignment. Work Experience C&I Systems Design Expertise Experience of Nuclear Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) plant operation and control, or similar industrial experience of plant/system control. Experience in the systematic design lifecycle of C&I system, including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of power station C&I systems together with understanding of the principles of designing systems to be functionally resilient to faults (such as redundancy and diversity). Knowledge of principles and concepts, including appropriate industry standards (such as IEC 61508, IEC 61513, IEC 61226 for nuclear industry System Engineering Expertise Demonstrable understanding of applying a systems engineering approach to design. Logical mindset and approach to tackling problems. Experience with key systems engineering methodologies (e.g. Holistic requirements model, Pugh matrix, interface management) Experience in requirements management or structured verification and use of requirements management tools (e.g. IBM DOORS, Polarian etc). Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools Interpersonal Skills Experience in taking information, understanding, and presenting it in an appropriate and compelling format, which includes formal communications to the appropriate stakeholders including regulatory bodies. Experience of engaging and working with internal and external stakeholders. Experience of working with internal and external customers, understanding their requirements, and providing solutions that are in line with relevant good industry practices. Experience of technical ownership and working together. An ability to work with and coach junior members in the team.
Responsibilities
