Description

Your tasks

Your role:

You'll build the FP&A and controlling function at Padel City. You'll work directly with the CFO. Accounting isn't your thing—controlling is. You don't think in reports, you think in systems, and you want to change the way a rapidly growing company understands and uses its financial data.

What you build in the first 12 months — in this order:

▸ Planning Process: Your first project. You'll take over our planning process based on the existing multi-location financial model, develop it further with the locations—not over their heads—and build the monthly target/actual comparison with variance analysis on top of it.

▸ Cash Flow & Liquidity: Rolling 13-week liquidity forecast plus annual forecast—no trivial matter for a rapidly growing company with long-term leases and numerous construction projects.

▸ Management Reporting: Monthly reporting with P&L for each company and location—lean, decision-relevant, not PowerPoint presentations.

▸ Data Infrastructure: In parallel, we're building the central data layer (PostgreSQL, DATEV, payment data, location KPIs) with external support. You'll define what the reporting needs and ensure it gets there.

▸ FP&A Tooling: We're building our own FP&A tool internally with AI-supported coding. You'll join this project, contribute your technical requirements, and drive it forward. If we also need a BI tool, your recommendation will count.

Your profile

Who we are looking for:

Not a typical controller profile. If you envision your career in fixed reporting cycles and established processes, this isn't the right role for you. We're looking for someone who enjoys building things up and takes initiative on projects without being assigned them.

Technically:

▸ Degree with a focus on economics or quantitative sciences, or a comparable qualification — we're interested in what you've built, not where you studied.

▸ At least 3 years of experience in FP&A, controlling, or finance in a high-growth environment — scale-up, mid-sized company, or consulting firm with a subsequent operational role.

▸ You have built a budget or forecast process from start to finish at least once — not just used it.

▸ Excel at a power-user level — structured models, scenario logic. This is your primary tool, but not your only one

. ▸ You think beyond Excel: experience with a BI or automation tool. You can read SQL and write simple queries yourself. If you've already built a script for a data job, all the better.
