Senior Controls Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

American Axle & Manufacturing has openings for Senior Controls Engineer at its RHTC facility in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Job duties include:

  • Design and recommend control system architecture, products, components, and applications used in testing and validation environments.
  • Develop control software applications that interface with USB/Serial devices, Analog/Digital IO blocks, various types of sensors i.e., hall effect, rotary encoders, thermocouples, linear position sensors, etc.
  • Design and review engineering electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborate with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
  • Develop automated test solutions in LabVIEW utilizing DAQmx, VISA, XNET, ECU Toolkit, and LabVIEW Real-Time Module.
  • Utilize various industrial automation protocols including CAN, CCP, XCP, RS-232/485, Ethernet, GPIB, FlexRay, EtherCAT and Modbus.
  • Employ the use of CANape and CANoe to create GATEWAY that interfaces between unit under test and dynamometer control system.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

Position requires: Bachelor’s degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or foreign equivalent education, and 5 years post baccalaureate’s progressive experience working in the automotive embedded software field in the position of Embedded Software Engineer, Engineer, Senior Engineer, Specialist or other embedded software engineering positions. 5 years of experience is required in each of the following:

  • Implementing ASPICE based embedded software in embedded C code.
  • Performing requirement analysis, design, and test of automotive software. Testing software using Canoe.
  • Software issue debugging and resolution
  • Implementation, and configuration of AUTOSAR BSW, MCAL, ASW and CDD using Vector or Etas Tools. Implementation and testing of embedded software according to ISO 14229 (UDS) and CAN communication protocol.
  • Interfacing with the customer on technical topics.

Experience may be obtained concurrently.
