JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to help lead the design, programming, and commissioning of automation and control systems. This role involves developing technical solutions, supporting proposals, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with PLC/HMI systems, instrumentation, and SCADA, along with a solid understanding of cost, scheduling, and client support.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5–7 years of experience as a Senior Controls Engineer or in a similar role.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with AutoCAD for electrical schematics and panel layout, as well as programming and troubleshooting PLCs
  • Strong knowledge of reading and building electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience designing complex systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and electronic instrumentation and control systems.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for project requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review technical design documentation.
  • Determine optimal automation solutions to meet customer requirements and provide detailed costing to the project management team.
  • Lead or assist in proposal generation for key project opportunities.
  • Travel to client sites for installation, commissioning, and technical support as required.
  • Manage project cost and schedule, delegate tasks effectively, and oversee performance to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitor project progress to maintain timelines and budgets.
  • Design instrumentation and control systems, staying current with evolving technologies.
  • Program and commission PLC and HMI systems.
  • Troubleshoot, program, and commission variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Provide ongoing technical support to client’s post-installation.
  • Support business development through technical engagement and identifying new opportunities.
  • Mentor and occasionally lead Junior and Intermediate Engineers during panel assembly in the in-house panel shop.
  • Design and develop custom SCADA systems tailored to client needs.
  • Program and build systems from the ground up for turnkey solutions.
