Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Work is highly independent. Will assume a team lead/mentoring role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. * Manages the design, installation, optimization, and enhancement of electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes. * Develops technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics to implement automation controls. * Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques. * Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions. * Oversees and coordinates project resources for system start-ups, maintenance and upgrades. * Ensures that instrument data sheets, wiring designs, drawings, and plans are documented. * Oversees and schedules PLC technician assignments. * Responsible for HR responsibilities such as; time card approvals, performance reviews, and expense approvals. * All other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: * Associate degree and/or technical school certification received with industry experience is preferred OR Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred. * 10+ years’ controls engineering experience; material handling or manufacturing experienced preferred. * Expert-level working knowledge of PLC Programming (Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5000) * Strong experience with design, inter-connection and configuration of PLCs systems * Strong experience working with Conveyor and Robotic Systems within material handling or manufacturing environments preferred. * Strong HMI Development experience preferred. * Strong working experience and understanding of Electrical Design and Engineering * Demonstratable experience providing guidance/mentorship to other team members is required. Working Conditions: * Travel to customer sites 20% annually * Some weekend/night work required as needed * Standing and walking for long periods of time * Occasional climbing on steps, scaffolding and/or mezzanines  * Sitting in and/or driving a vehicle for a long period of time * Working with computers for a long period of time * Working in office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities  * Possible exposure to noise levels exceeding recommended DBA levels             **Job requirements listed indicate the minimum level of knowledge, skills, and/or ability necessary to perform the job proficiently.
