Prepare and cook a variety of foods on a timely basis in accordance to current menu and standardized recipes, in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies and procedures. Prepare food in accordance to current diet, texture, and liquid consistency orders. Follow established portion control procedures. Review menus prior to preparations; forecasting accurate amounts needed, or following procedures to make appropriate substitutions if needed. Assure proper food storage according to established policies and procedures, including accurate labeling and dating. Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies and procedures. Process diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing. Assist with updating resident profiles and printing of tray tickets in food service software program. Assist in inventory and storage of food and supply deliveries. Assure that safety regulations are followed at all times by all culinary service personnel. Participate in interviews for new employees when necessary. Requirements High School Diploma or GED Prior food service experience is required; Must possess at least one year’s experience in a health related or food service facility, preferably in a long-term care setting Be dependable Must have knowledge of sanitary procedures Must be able to read, write and speak English in an understandable manner ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
