Description

SENIOR CORPORATE CONTROLS & AUTOMATION ENGINEER

Location: Remote – Based anywhere in US or Canada
Salary: Up to $150,000 CAD
INFINITEK, a specialist technical recruitment consultancy, is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a leading North American horticultural organization, employing 1,000 employees operating worldwide. They are looking to hire a Senior Corporate Controls & Automation Engineer.
This is a unique opportunity to take charge of a $75M, multi-year modernization program, acting as the subject matter expert for controls and automation across a network of complex manufacturing sites in Canada and the US.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the design, development, and upgrade of controls, PLCs, and automation systems across a portfolio of manufacturing sites, acting as the subject matter expert for all things controls.
  • Assess existing hardware and software platforms, identifying risks, obsolescence, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with 3rd-party vendors and contractors to deliver upgrades and new installations on time and within budget, mitigating risks and ensuring quality.
  • Act as the ‘architect of the controls’ – bringing a deep technical understanding and vision to guide both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Travel extensively (approximately 75%) to sites across Canada (Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Quebec) and the US, providing hands-on expertise and guidance.
  • Build strong relationships with plant teams and stakeholders, communicating effectively and ensuring alignment throughout projects.

What They’re Looking For:

  • A strong background in Controls Engineering with hands-on experience designing and upgrading automation systems.
  • Expertise with Allen Bradley platforms and ideally experience with Ignition.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects — keeping them on track, on budget, and aligned with business goals.
  • Experience with both brownfield (retrofit/upgrade) and greenfield (new build) projects, with an emphasis on brownfield.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — you’ll be representing the controls function and building trust at each site.
  • Based in Canada or the US, with a preference for candidates in Ontario given the current project focus.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • French language skills are a huge plus, though not required.

Why Apply?
This is your chance to take ownership of a high-impact, transformational program that will define the future of operations for a major manufacturing business. You’ll have the autonomy to design and deliver best-in-class solutions while building deep expertise in a variety of complex manufacturing environments.
They offer a competitive salary (up to $150,000 CAD) and the chance to work on some of the most exciting controls and automation projects in North America.
