Description

The Senior Corporate EHS Manager will report directly to the Corporate Director of EHS and lead company-wide environmental, health, safety, security, and process safety management (PSM) policies for our [wash] business. This role will ensure a foundation for regulatory compliance while embedding process safety into core operations, especially concerning the use, storage, and transfer of flammable and combustible liquids.
This position will partner with peers across our internal supply chain (Operations, Logistics, Finance, Legal, etc.) to build EHS—including PSM—into our corporate culture. The individual will serve as a coach and mentor to Site EHS Leads, Site Leaders, and Leadership Teams across the [wash] network. They will also play a pivotal role in integrating Human & Organizational Performance (H.O.P.) principles and a high-reliability mindset into operational systems and behaviors.

AN INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIED FOR THIS JOB MUST BE ABLE TO:

  • Strong leadership traits with the ability to coach, mentor, and build alliances across various functions and roles
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, motivational, and project management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS and Security standards and regulations.
  • Expertise in the use and storage of bulk flammable/combustible liquids (e.g., NFPA codes and PSM standards).
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize potential issues and offer different options on how to make improvements.
  • Highly observant and quick to assess potential operational issues in any work environment from EHS & Security perspectives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information to Plant Leaders, Functional Leaders, and Senior Corporate Leaders.
  • Must be able to field questions on the presented materials. Ability to write clear standards and policies and respond effectively to questions about the material presented.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with Associates, team members, and other internal or external customers and present information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner. Create an environment built on collaboration.
  • Must be able to write accurate reports and correspondence in a professional manner.
  • Adept at developing effective training material & methods for the adult learner to support Site Leadership Teams as they continue to educate their workforce.
  • Strong ability to pull, analyze, and interpret data, producing meaningful and actionable reports.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply critical thinking to base proposed plans/decisions on good sound judgment from both a regulatory, general industry practice and present operational challenges
  • Strong technical skills in risk assessments, JHA/JSAs, PHAs, and combustible dust hazards (where applicable).
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience implementing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs in industrial settings.
  • Deep understanding of PSM elements (e.g., PHAs, MI, MOC, Incident Investigation, Training, Operating Procedures, Compliance Audits).
  • Knowledge of Human & Organization Performance (H.O.P.) principles and practices. Ability to coach to this philosophy.
  • Possess a temperament biased toward action, at the same time showing some level of operational empathy as needed.
  • Ability to deliver results in a timely fashion, without compromising the quality of the results.
  • Must be able to build sustainability into each plan, program, process that is created.
  • Must possess strong time management skills to be able to manage one’s own schedule. Can be a remote position, realizing there is a high level of travel associated with it. Must be able to adapt schedules as business needs demand.
  • Must be available during non-business hours to respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Efficiently operate a computer and demonstrate PC proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

AN INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIED FOR THIS JOB MUST HAVE AND MAINTAIN THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven 5+ years’ Safety experience, with 3+ years in a Corporate/Advisory role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the following areas: Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety, Security, Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced degree and/or professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CEP, etc., preferred.
  • Experience working with air compliance programs, Title V air permit knowledge preferred.

  • The individual will work in multiple work environments to include office, manufacturing, distribution & warehousing. Noise levels will vary depending on the environment he/she is in. Where hearing protection is required, it is expected, this individual will abide by the site rules.
  • Conditions in our plants & warehouses may have swings in temperatures depending on location and time of year. The individual must be prepared to work in cold or hot environments when assessing operations, meeting with employees, etc
