Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Cost Allocation Data Engineer - REMOTE. As a Cost Allocation Data Engineer, you will be pivotal in designing and implementing data foundations that empower cost transparency and accountability across complex cloud environments. This role combines cloud economics, financial modeling, and data engineering, impacting how leaders govern and optimize cloud spending. You will translate financial concepts into scalable data models, crucial for driving business decisions and cost management strategies. \n Accountabilities Design and implement a cost allocation rule engine supporting tag-based attribution, account/subscription-based mappings, and custom business-defined allocation rules. Build amortization models for upfront cloud commitments, including 1-year and 3-year reservations. Implement shared cost distribution models, such as proportional allocation, even split, and fixed-coefficient weighting. Create attribution logic for untagged costs leveraging account ownership, usage heuristics, and business metadata. Develop budget vs. actual variance models to support cost governance, ensuring alignment with accounting principles. Requirements 5–7 years of hands-on data engineering experience. Proven experience building chargeback and/or showback systems. Strong exposure to cloud cost allocation in enterprise environments. Expert-level SQL skills including complex joins and performance tuning. Strong dimensional data modeling skills and experience with modern data modeling tools such as dbt and LookML. Benefits Work on high-visibility, mission-critical financial data models. Fully remote role for U.S.-based candidates. Collaborate with senior FinOps, Finance, and Engineering leaders. Opportunity to shape the foundation of enterprise cloud cost governance. \n Why Apply Through Jobgether?
