SENIOR PROJECT COST CONTROLLER – CONTRACT OR CASUAL (12 MONTHS, HYBRID)

Brisbane CBD, QLD | 40 hrs/week | Hybrid Work Environment
Pay Range: $65 – $95per hour + Super (depending on experience)
ALIGA is seeking an experienced Senior Project Cost Controller to support the successful delivery of high-value infrastructure projects. This is a 12-month full-time role, offered on a contract or casual basis, with the possibility of extension. The work will be hybrid, based primarily from our Brisbane CBD office, with flexibility to work remotely for part of the week.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years’ financial management experience on major capital projects.
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, business, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting in a project environment.
  • Ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams and manage diverse stakeholder expectations.
  • Government project or infrastructure experience is highly desirable.
  • Membership with CPA Australia or equivalent (or working towards).
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide cost control advice and financial mentoring to Project Managers across complex infrastructure projects.
  • Analyse and guide capital and operational expenditure programs to the level of discrete projects or resource cost centres.
  • Develop strong relationships with key finance and project personnel, ensuring alignment with governance, assurance, risk, and procurement requirements.
  • Supervise junior cost controllers and ensure accuracy in project financial transactions, commitments, and reporting.
  • Prepare consolidated financial dashboards, analyse forecasts and actuals, and provide commentary on variances.
  • Lead continuous improvement in project cost reporting systems and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify business processes without compromising accuracy or compliance.
  • Comply with all applicable WHS, quality, and environmental requirements.
