Job Description Our Costume department offer a full suite of specialty costume realisation and fabrication services for high-end, world-class costume creation – you can see some of our work here: https://www.wetaworkshop.com/what-we-do/manufacture/costumes With some exciting, creatively complex projects getting underway, we’re looking for Senior Costume Technicians to join the crew through to the end of June. Our role Our Senior Technicians are a key part of the team, and contribute to our creations and team efficiency through: Providing a range of technical support in the creation and development of products and processes Advising on best methods of approaching designs in the early stages (either from a pattern cutting or fabrication perspective) Reviewing/quality checking products prior to delivering Providing guidance and training to new crew, and supervising them throughout the design and fabrication process Our ideal candidates We are looking for enthusiastic, experienced people who are able to take direction and have strong attention to detail. It’s essential that you bring: 3 years minimum of professional industrial sewing experience Pattern making skills (ideally including drape patterning) Knowledge and experience with a broad range of textiles The ability to communicate effectively within a team that works with multiple other departments in the workshop Ideally, you’ll also have: Comfort working with unconventional materials, and unusual, cumbersome costume parts Experience with creature suits, specialty suits or mascot suits (including working with foam and/or silicon) A passion for sharing your knowledge, skills and ideas. This is a fast-paced environment so we need crew who can think on their feet and manage their time well. Our standard hours are 42.5 hours per week, but we are ideally looking for people who can be flexible as overtime is occasionally required.
