DESCRIPTION We’re seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join Apple’s IP Special Deals & Analytics team. You’ll join a team of technical, financial, and legal experts to drive strategy for some of the most complex IP issues facing Apple. You’ll also work cross-functionally with other business and legal teams at Apple. And you’ll navigate and negotiate with multiple external IP stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: • Managing IP deals and negotiations with data-driven analysis and innovative approaches. • Negotiating, valuing, and drafting IP license, acquisition, and settlement agreements. • Identifying key existing and emerging areas of IP risk and opportunity, and developing innovative ways to address them. • Curating and providing centralized IP data and intelligence to inform decision-making and strategy. • Developing comprehensive diligence and analysis for incoming IP disputes. • Working closely with Apple’s IP Litigation, IP Transactions, teams, as well as outside counsel and experts, to develop royalty and valuation theories. • Fostering partnerships with engineering, operations, supply, finance, product legal, and other teams at Apple to develop and drive IP dispute strategies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 8+ years experience at a top law firm, in-house legal department, and/or patent transactions entity. In-depth experience managing complex, multi-party IP disputes and transactions, both in litigation and outside of litigation. Deep knowledge of patent license and other IP transactions agreement principles. JD or equivalent and admission to at least one US state bar. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with and knowledge of stakeholders in the patent monetization space, including pools, aggregators, brokers, and litigation funders. Experience managing cross-border IP issues. Ability to advise and coordinate with all types of business, legal, and engineering clients in an unstructured environment. Strong negotiation skills. Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strategic problem solver with the ability to see the big picture while working with ambiguity and uncertainty. Proven track record of working independently, balancing numerous evolving workstreams, and taking ownership.
