We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist, leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced data science solutions within the Lancashire & South Cumbria Secure Data Environment analytics and research teams. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in shaping and advancing the Real World Evidence (RWE) strategy, with a strong focus on data transformation using OMOP (Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership), as well as the use of ETL and data management tools.
Working closely with clinical, operational, and research stakeholders, you’ll lead efforts to transform and standardise complex healthcare datasets, enabling high-quality analytics, research, and innovation. To succeed, you’ll bring deep expertise in data engineering, statistical modelling, and SQL-based transformation frameworks, along with experience delivering actionable insights from real-world clinical data.
Please note this role can be completed remotely with minimum travel to site around 3-4 times a year.
You will be responsible for delivering a proactive, effective, and high-quality data science service, acting as a role model within the Lancashire & South Cumbria Secure Data Environment (LSC SDE) Real World Evidence (RWE) team.
In this role, you’ll support and mentor colleagues to help them reach their full potential, while ensuring data science activities are completed within agreed timescales. You’ll take the lead on all aspects of analysis and reporting, including integrating, transforming, and consolidating data from various structured and unstructured sources into formats suitable for advanced analytics.
You’ll help stakeholders understand and explore data, building and maintaining secure, compliant data processing pipelines using a variety of tools and techniques. As the data science representative in key meetings, you’ll also play a lead role in developing the LSC SDE strategy and contribute to wider Trust and Integrated Care System (ICS) initiatives.
Leveraging your extensive knowledge and technical skills, you’ll manage complex information challenges, support forecasting and capacity planning, and contribute to the development of predictive models.
You’ll also lead and support research, academic, and commercial collaborations, ensuring that the development of data science products and services aligns with the needs of operational, clinical, and nursing staff.
Working in our team as a Senior Data Analyst offers a dynamic and rewarding experience where your expertise will be valued and your work will directly influence decision-making and patient outcomes. You’ll be part of a collaborative, supportive environment that encourages critical thinking, continuous learning, and innovation. We work on a wide range of impactful projects, using data to drive improvements in clinical services, operational efficiency, and research. As a senior member of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor junior analysts, lead on complex data projects, and contribute to strategic initiatives. It’s a fast-paced, forward-thinking team where your insights can help shape the future of healthcare delivery.
