This is what you are going to do

Are you analytically strong, do you enjoy working in a team, and do you want to contribute to public safety through data analysis? Do you get energy from working with complex (police) data regarding themes such as stalking, cybercrime, femicide, explosions, and undermining? Then we are looking for you!

You will be working in a crucial role between implementation and policy at the Directorate-General for Subversion, Police and Security Regions (DGOPV), and in particular at the Information Analysis Team (IAT), a hybrid team specializing in short-cycle research into current themes within the police domain.

Within this team, you are (partly) responsible for the execution of the quantitative component of our projects. Together with policymakers and subject matter experts, you translate strategic questions into concrete data analysis. You dive into various source systems (including those of the police) and external data sources to collect, link, transform, and analyze data. You convert the findings into valuable analytical products. There is ample room for creativity and the application of new data techniques. The insights you provide help administrators and policymakers make informed decisions and develop evidence-based policy.

What are you going to do?

  • Data exploration: you extract and analyze information from large amounts of (often unstructured) data from police systems.
  • Analyses: you conduct in-depth, complex quantitative analyses in a team setting, while monitoring methodological quality and privacy frameworks.
  • Visualization and reporting: you translate data into well-organized, clear reports and visualizations that make an impact.
  • Presentation: You explain your results during webinars and presentations to a diverse audience, ranging from police officers and policy officers to administrators (including police management and the DGOPV Management Team).
  • Coordination: within the team, as a senior data analyst, you are the primary point of contact for the team leader, data analysts, and other stakeholders regarding data analysis, and you oversee the content and quality thereof.

Together, we explore where your ambitions and talents lie. Whether you want to grow in technical depth (for example, advanced analyses or big data applications), presentation, or personal skills, there is ample room for development.

This is what you get

  • Scale 12
  • €4,818 - €7,094 (gross)
  • Fixed-term employment contract with the prospect of a permanent contract
  • 1 year
  • 32 - 36 hours
  • The salary is based on a 36-hour work week.

We offer even more of this

In addition to your salary, you will receive an Individual Choice Budget (IKB). The IKB consists of money (16.50% of your gross annual salary) and time. With the IKB, you make choices that suit you and can customize part of your employment conditions yourself. For example, you can choose to have part of your monthly income paid out when you wish. You can also convert this budget into leave and vice versa, or spend it on tax-friendly purposes. The Central Government attaches great importance to personal growth and career development and offers numerous opportunities for this. Secondary employment conditions include various study facilities, company fitness, full reimbursement of your public transport commuting costs, and partially paid parental leave.

More about Information Analysis Team (IAT)

The Information Analysis Team is a joint team of the police, the Ministry of Justice and Security, and Statistics Netherlands that conducts shared analyses to link the performance and goals of the police.
