Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking a senior data analyst with proven experience in journalism or digital media to join the team dedicated to providing the newsroom with meaningful trends and data-informed insights. Understanding audience behavior, interests, and shifts in media consumption and translating them into actionable strategies that can be implemented across The Post’s newsroom teams will be integral to our goal of expanding the reach and impact of our journalism.
As part of the News Analytics, Insights & Training team based in the newsroom, you will be responsible for parsing off-platform data from social media, newsletters, video and audio channels and establishing takeaways that editors and reporters can use to better understand the needs of audiences. Ideal candidates for this position will be deeply curious and have a passion for following the latest trends and experiments in the industry. They will also have proven experience creating replicable workflows to scale analysis and our team’s impact. They will be thoughtful about the large and small strategies that can be implemented to improve our audience’s experience of our journalism across a variety of channels while maintaining a deep commitment to our public service mission.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom.

The salary range for this position is: $82,600.00 - $136,000.00 USD. The actual starting salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
The Washington Post’s policy for employees is five days per week in the office, with exceptions for newsgathering and general business travel.
