YOUR ROLE

The Senior Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in BOCSAR’s mission to improve community safety and justice outcomes in NSW. Working at the intersection of policy, research, and advanced analytics, the role leads high-level statistical and data modelling projects that inform evidence-based decision-making across government. The position combines deep technical expertise with subject-matter insight to deliver independent, high-quality analysis that shapes criminal justice policy and service delivery.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Day-to-day, the Senior Data Analyst will extract, link, clean, and analyse complex justice datasets, applying advanced statistical and programming skills to uncover trends and generate actionable insights. This includes leading analytical projects from scoping to delivery, coding in SQL, Python, or R, and leveraging cloud-based infrastructure such as Google BigQuery.
The role also involves communicating findings in clear, tailored formats for both technical and non-technical audiences, mentoring junior analysts, contributing to the development of analytical tools and methods, and ensuring all work complies with strict privacy, security, and governance requirements.
You will join BOCSAR’s collaborative, high-performing team of analysts and researchers who value transparency, rigour, and the practical impact of their work. The environment is supportive yet intellectually challenging, with open knowledge-sharing, peer review, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The team operates flexibly, with hybrid work options, and fosters an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives are respected and contributions are recognised. There’s a strong focus on both professional development and producing work that directly benefits the NSW community.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THIS ROLE. WE LOOK FORWARD TO RECEIVING YOUR APPLICATION.
