The MSRC Data Science team is responsible in building Business Intelligence on core security issues using data pipelines, data mining, ETL, dashboards, AI/ML solutions on security related data. We combine our data science work with business and engineering knowledge to provide unique insights into customer scenarios that are leading the data-driven culture within security.
We are looking for a Senior Data and Applied Scientist to partner with a wide range of Engineers, PMs, and Security PMs, build and deliver solutions using Data Engineering with Kusto, DAX and build PowerBI dashboards, AI/ML solutions using GenAI, LLM, GPT. Not limited to the mentioned problem space, this person should be able to own one or more areas of opportunities and identify Business or Engineering problems, dig out sources of data, conduct the analysis that would reveal useful insights, and build data driven insights, KPIs for Monthly Business Reviews for Senior leadership and Operational reporting. We are looking for someone who has hands-on experience in these areas and have an ability to quickly understand the business areas to help build mission critical dashboards and ML solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research)
  • OR Master’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience in building data pipelines, ETL using cloud computing like, Kusto (Azure Data Explorer), Azure Key Vault, Azure Storage or similar.
  • 4+ years experience building KPIs and dashboards using DAX and PowerBI.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in building Machine Learning solutions using GenAI, LLM, GPT models
  • Security Domain knowledge.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build data pipelines, ETL using Kusto queries and DAX to build leadership level metrics, KPIs, trends and visualizations using Power BI dashboards.
  • Partner with Security PMs, Security engineering, and leadership teams to implement scalable data-driven frameworks for evaluating metrics and KPIs, and build scalable PowerBI dashboards.
  • Build tools for data manipulation, processing, and visualization to extract insights and share these tools, knowledge, and findings across partner teams.
  • Interpret data and communicate in a clear and lucid way to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Influence decision-making by providing clarity through complex datasets and statistical analyses.Mentor early-in-career teammates and establish high standards in both data science and engineering excellence
  • Work in collaboration with teammates to ensure reliable and trust-worthy data for critical business decisions to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Build AI/ML models using GenAI, LLM, ChatGPT, AgenticAI and similar.
