Description

SENIOR DATA CENTER INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER

Location: Irvine, CA
Schedule: 100 percent onsite with on-call rotation
Start: ASAP
Employment: Direct hire. No sponsorship available.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 8 plus years in critical facilities design and operations, preferably data centers

STRONG WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Electrical systems: Power distribution, UPS systems, diesel generators, single- and three-phase circuits
  • Cooling systems: Direct expansion, centrifugal refrigeration, cooling towers, pumps, hydronic water distribution, valves, flow control, and sensors
  • HVAC systems: Air handling units and related equipment
  • Controls & automation: Distributed control systems/BMS (ideally Automated Logic Corp), motor controls, variable frequency drives, and related protocols
  • Water treatment: Chemical water treatment programs for cooling and hydronic systems
  • Life safety systems: Fire detection and protection systems (NFPA, OSHA standards)

Responsibilities
  • Lead or support design changes for cooling systems, electrical distribution, and BMS updates
  • Plan capacity for power, cooling, and space in whitespace buildouts
  • Manage projects and vendors, including scheduling and onsite execution
  • Perform cooling calculations and basic power calculations for single and three-phase circuits
  • Analyze BMS trends to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Read and work from single-line electrical drawings, network diagrams, P&IDs, SOPs, sequences of operations, and O&M manuals
  • Serve as after-hours site responder for critical events
  • Operate daily infrastructure, including power, cooling, security systems, maintenance activities, and BMS
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance using a CMMS
  • Write SOPs, develop Energy Control Procedures, and perform Lockout Tagout
  • Apply safe work practices and standards, including NFPA 70E and OSHA
