Job Description
Due to recent expansion, we are currently looking for a passionate Senior Data Centre Technician to join our Sydney facilities team.
The purpose of this role is to support the City Facility Manager with day-to-day operations of the data centre by providing high quality & efficient technical maintenance and customer service, and management of third party contractors. This role will also be the lead SME for the team of Data Centre Technicians and be required to participate in an on-call roster.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good knowledge of all aspects of data centres including electrical and mechanical configurations, rack management, design and installation
  • Understanding of high-density data centre power, cooling approaches and technologies
  • Good knowledge of cabling & cable management and quality inspection / assurance
  • Knowledge of various codes and regulations applicable
  • Experience with building management and monitoring systems
  • Experience in the use of test equipment to determine signal strength and traffic direction to diagnose communication quality and faults

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Facility Manager and Services Manager in overseeing the operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure supporting the facility and our brand promises
  • Provide an integration/coordination point into NEXTDC Facilities, for infrastructure supporting critical support systems, Power monitoring and Rack locking, Temp and Humidity monitoring
  • Monitor all critical systems through Building Management Systems, diagnose upon failure critical systems and escalate as required
  • Manage customer provisioning requests including management of external contractors ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately, at the highest quality and in accordance with internal SLAs
  • Manage capacity planning of all cabling infrastructure to ensure 100% availability for all requests within internal SLAs
  • Assisting Services Manager in training and the development of new facility staff members
  • Participation in the on-call roster
  • Ensure that facility issues/problems are identified and resolved in a timely manner via Service Now
