About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer (Analytics) and expert in AWS QuickSight for a short-term contract engagement with an enterprise fintech customer. This is a well-defined project working on a mature data platform, focused on delivering secure, multi-tenanted BI dashboards for different user groups across the organisation. You’ll be the Amazon QuickSight expert in the room, leading the design and implementation of high-quality, governed analytics solutions alongside Appvia’s delivery team. The right candidate will be comfortable owning the analytics layer end-to-end, from data modelling and SQL through to dashboard design, security, and performance optimisation, and able to translate complex requirements into elegant, production-ready outcomes. Interview Process - 2 stage Talent Acquisition screening Final interview with Hiring Managers Key Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of interactive, secure BI dashboards using Amazon QuickSight. Design multi-tenant analytics solutions with appropriate row-level security, access control, and governance. Engineer and optimise data models to support performant business intelligence use cases. Work with AWS data services including Redshift, Athena, Glue, Lambda, and S3. Develop reusable dashboard templates, styles, and reporting standards. Collaborate with Appvia engineers and client stakeholders to gather requirements and shape solutions. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ensure analytics solutions follow best practices for security, performance, and data quality. Design governed data architectures with best practice access control. Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage of large datasets. Skills & Experience Essential 5+ years’ experience in data engineering and/or analytics engineering. Expert, hands-on experience with Amazon QuickSight, including SPICE, dashboard design, and security implementation. Deep knowledge of AWS cloud platform (Azure, GCP a bonus). Hands-on experience with cloud-native data services (e.g. Redshift, Athena, Glue, Lambda, S3). Experience designing efficient data models for business analytics. Knowledge of data governance, security, and quality best practices. Good knowledge of cloud-based analytics environments and AWS security practices. Advanced SQL proficiency and experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Programming skills (Python, Go, Ruby, Java or similar). Experience with IaC tools (Terraform or CloudFormation/CDK). Understanding of CI/CD and data engineering pipelines orchestration. Strong communication skills, able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field. Certifications in relevant cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Data Engineer, Google Professional Data Engineer, Microsoft Azure Data Engineer). Any additional certifications in data governance, machine learning, or analytics would be a plus. Why join Appvia?
