SENIOR DATA ENGINEER

Changeis, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data / ETL Engineer to support a large data initiative in our current work.
We are seeking an expert Senior Data/ETL Engineer to lead the technical design and development of complex data pipelines. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader, responsible for tackling the most challenging data integration problems, including reverse-engineering legacy systems and building robust, scalable solutions on modern platforms. You will mentor other engineers and set the standard for quality and efficiency in data movement and transformation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 11+ years of experience in data engineering and ETL development.
  • Expert proficiency in SQL and experience with enterprise RDBMS like Oracle.
  • Proven experience with one or more enterprise ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, StreamSets).
  • Strong programming skills in a language like Python or Java.
  • Experience in a technical leadership or mentorship role.

PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Direct experience with StreamSets and/or Palantir Foundry.
  • Experience with legacy ETL tools, specifically Pentaho.
  • Knowledge of AWS data services (S3, Glue, Lambda).
  • Experience working in a federal government or FAA environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the analysis, design, and development of complex ETL pipelines, with a focus on migrating legacy systems (e.g., Pentaho) to modern platforms like Palantir Foundry and StreamSets.
  • Reverse-engineer existing data processes and scripts to ensure functional parity and business continuity.
  • Design and implement data ingestion patterns for both bulk and change data capture (CDC) from sources like Oracle databases.
  • Collaborate with the Data Architect to implement data models and ensure pipelines adhere to architectural standards.
  • Develop solutions for handling schema drift and ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Mentor junior data engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices.
