THIS POSITION IS BASED IN MUNICH, GERMANY, WITH 2-3 DAYS WORKING AT THE OFFICE

As part of our ongoing transformation, we are migrating our existing Data Warehouse and building a modern, scalable Data Analytics platform to support our evolving business needs. To drive this initiative, we are seeking an experienced Data Engineer who will play a key role in shaping and implementing our new data architecture. This position is pivotal to ensuring that our data infrastructure can meet the demands of advanced analytics and sustained business growth.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, building and operating data pipelines.
  • Experience with managed ingestion tools such as Fivetran (or similar), including connector configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and Python.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services commonly used for data platforms (S3, Lambda, ECS, Cloudwatch).
  • Practical experience building dbt models, tests, documentation and deployment pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake (schema design, performance tuning)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD for data (Git workflows, automated tests, deployment pipelines).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently; comfortable taking ownership of end-to-end problems.
  • Fluent English. Additional knowledge of German and/or French will be useful for the position.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines for ingestion, processing and delivery into the data warehouse.
  • Implement and operate ELT processes using managed ingestion tools and custom ingestion where required.
  • Integrate diverse data sources, including MySQL, MS SQL, Salesforce, Amazon S3, and other standard connectors.
  • Develop (together with data analysts) production-grade transformations using dbt and ensure code quality through testing, documentation and CI/CD.
  • Develop and optimize solutions within our cloud-based Data Warehouse environment, using Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all stages of the data lifecycle.
  • Monitor, troubleshot, and optimize data flows and platform performance.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and the continuous improvement of data engineering best practices, including automation, documentation, and testing.
