Role Summary KINESSO is currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Senior Data Engineer to fill an immediate need. This individual will work with the technical team and internal clients to understand and analyze requirements to build and support data initiatives. The candidate will have experience designing and developing highly scalable data solutions with a strong understanding of the Data Engineering operating environments. This role requires an individual who has a passion for technology and media and is looking to apply this to further their experience in real-world business scenarios. Key Responsibilities Guide and drive discussions, support decision-making in processes and solutions, and mentor in discussions. Oversee and deliver complex core practice tasks and guide others effectively. Develop and advocate for new best practices and optimize existing processes. Take ownership of documentation for assigned areas, ensuring completeness, consistency, and clarity. Champion compliance and standards, drive adherence, and resolve issues. Drive and support team collaboration by coordinating efforts and fostering strong team dynamics. Work closely with technical leads to ensure alignment on goals and technical solutions. Mentor and develop mid-level and junior engineers, providing technical guidance. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science 5-7 years of progressive software engineering experience 5+ years of experience with Python, JavaScript and SQL 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud ecosystem 5+ years of experience with any MPP database technology 3+ years of experience with big data processing frameworks Experience with agile methodologies is highly desirable Experience in the modern data stack is highly desirable: Warehouse/Lakehouse: Snowflake, Databricks, AWS Redshift Orchestration/Pipelines: Airflow, Dagster, Kestra Transformation/Modelling: DBT, Star Schema, Data Vault Observability/Analytics: DataDog, Tableau, AWS QuickSight CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes Exposure to AI/ML concepts Proficient in managing time, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines Drive team collaboration, align team goals, and maintain a positive team dynamic Excel in hybrid working environments, fostering team collaboration across diverse settings Strong communicator, adept at influencing decisions, and mentoring Experienced in data privacy, security, and compliance standards Able to stay ahead of the curve with new and emerging technologies Experience in ad tech is a strong plus Personal Attributes Proficient in English as a first language – both verbal & written Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with non-technical users. The ability to consistently deliver solid, successful solutions in short development cycles. A strong spirit of innovation, self-starter, independent, and with the ability to come up with solutions to meet business problems. Result driven, high enthusiasm and can work well with others. Strong desire to learn new things and pass knowledge acquired onto others. Able to manage own hours and work with a remote team environment.
