About the Role Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Technology team in our Bethesda, MD office. This role will play a vital role in transforming all aspects of data lifecycle management services, including enterprise data architecture, data warehousing, and business intelligence. You will leverage advanced data engineering and modeling skills to drive business value across all departments, while leveraging cloud technologies to create a foundation for advanced analytics and data quality management capabilities as we continue to grow and scale our organization. You will use your passion for data, data modeling, and data governance to help execute our vision for data services at Total Wine & More. This role partners closely with the business, technology, infrastructure, and security teams to support learning and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Data Engineering. You will Partner with Data Services product owners, data engineers, data scientists, and BI developers to deliver data modeling, data quality, and overall data warehousing requirements in support of business and reporting objectives. Contribute to the on-going health and evolution of our centralized data platform, including the development and enhancement of our data pipelines. Responsible for hundreds of ingests processing billions of records daily. Build and maintain operational and analytical tables in our enterprise data warehouse that supports all departments and business domains, including financial transactions, supply chain activities, merchandising buying decisions, and marketing campaigns. Design and develop automated data quality testing and validation processes – ensuring timely access to highly accurate data for business partners and end users. Assist with implementation of data governance standards and best practices, both within the Data Services team and the company overall. You will come with Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or a related field Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or a related field preferred 3-6 years' experience in data warehousing, data modeling, or related fields Proven track record in building impactful data modeling solutions using cloud-native tools. Extensive experience with SQL and DBMSs and experience with programming languages such as Python. Experience with data orchestration, ingestion, and transformation tools – Airflow, Argo, and dbt preferred Experience leveraging cloud in development of data and analytics platforms – GCP/BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric, & Kubernetes experience preferred Experience in real-time data transmission & integration using kafka preferred. Experience with CI/CD, including GitHub required Strong analytic skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, troubleshoot and problem solve along with the ability to make recommendations based on analysis are extremely important.
