Responsibilities

THE ROLE – SENIOR DATA ENGINEER

The core mission of the data team is to provide meaningful recommendations and actionable insights from our users’ and client data as we strive to build the best version of Unmind.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping and evolving Unmind’s data platform. As the primary data engineer in a small, fast-moving team, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of our data infrastructure – from architecture and tooling decisions to implementation and optimisation. You’ll work closely with our Director of AI & Data and collaborate across Engineering, Product, and other teams to unlock meaningful insights and power data-driven decisions across the business.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of scope for shaping our data platform and influencing how data is used across the business.

THINGS YOU’LL DO IN THIS ROLE

We move quickly, which means that the focus and responsibilities of any position can be quite dynamic – but here’s how we initially see your skills and passion coming to life at Unmind.
Lead and Own – You will lead the development and direction of our data platform, owning the architecture and tooling choices to ensure reliability, and flexibility. You’ll take initiative in shaping how data is collected, processed, and made accessible across the business.
Build and Improve – You’ll build and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines and integrations across our platform and third-party systems. You’ll also play a key role in monitoring and improving performance, data quality, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate and Influence – You will work cross-functionally with software engineers, systems engineers, data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data needs, guide data best practices, and deliver solutions that drive impact.
Advise and Evolve – You’ll advise on data modelling, warehousing, and platform enhancements, while continuously evaluating opportunities to improve how we work with data.

We encourage you to remove education from your CV upon application as qualifications are not a driving factor in our decision making and we are committed to tackling educational inequality. We firmly believe that no one is the finished article and that there should be learning in every role you do. However, some experience in the following is important for this position:

  • Experience proactively collaborating cross-functionall
