About the role Senior Data Engineer expertise in building modern data platforms on AWS and Snowflake. Own design and operation of batch and near real time pipelines, event driven services, and microservices, with CI/CD automation using Git/GitHub Actions or Jenkins. Build secure, scalable architectures across S3, Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, ECS/EKS, and streaming with Kinesis or MSK. Deliver high quality SQL and well modeled datasets, optimize performance and cost, and enforce strict security and observability with IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config. Expert in SQL and Python, strong data modeling, and proven mentorship. Responsibilities Design, build, and operate cloud-native data and application pipelines on AWS, Snowflake and Modern ETL Platform Batch and near real-time ingestion, transformation, and delivery Event-driven architectures and microservices for data products and APIs Engineer robust CI/CD and platform automation Git/Jenkins based workflows, trunk/feature branch strategies, automated testing, artifact versioning Implement secure, scalable AWS architectures Built Data Lake, Compute and orchestration with Lambda, ECS/Fargate or EKS, Glue, Step Functions etc. Streaming and messaging with Kinesis, MSK, SNS/SQS, EventBridge Networking: VPC, private endpoints, security groups, NACLs, route controls Build high-quality SQL transformations and datasets Author performant SQL for analytics, APIs, and apps Design normalized and dimensional models, SCD patterns, data contracts, and SLAs Performance, cost, and reliability Optimize query performance, storage formats, partitions, and caching Right-size compute, apply tagging and budgets, and monitor SLOs with CloudWatch Security, governance, and compliance IAM least privilege, KMS encryption, Secrets Manager, parameterization CloudTrail, AWS Config, auditability, and incident runbooks Collaboration and leadership Translate business requirements into technical designs with product, analysts, and data science Mentor junior engineers, run reviews, improve standards, and document patterns Required qualifications Bachelor’s/master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field 7–10 years of engineering experience building on AWS Expert-level SQL and strong Python for data engineering and automation Hands-on AWS experience delivering production systems: S3, Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, ECS/Fargate or EKS, Kinesis or MSK, SNS/SQS, EventBridge, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config Solid grasp of networking, security, encryption, and observability CI/CD expertise: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps Automated testing, linting, IaC validation, environment promotion, and rollback strategies Strong data modelling and schema design for analytics and operational datasets Proven experience guiding junior team members and collaborating across functions Excellent communication and documentation skills Good to have: Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or CloudFormation Data integration tools such as Matillion; transformation frameworks like dbt Snowflake experience for warehousing and ELT patterns Streaming-first designs with Kafka, Kinesis, or Flink Experience exposing data via APIs and lightweight services Power BI or other BI platform familiarity Knowledge on the Azure cloud Platform AWS Certifications or Simila rCloud Certifications (Solutions Architect, Data Analytics, DevOps) #LI-P1 WHO IS VONTIER Vontier (NYSE: VNT) is a global industrial technology company uniting productivity, automation and multi-energy technologies to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving, more connected mobility ecosystem.
